Growing up, so many things influence our thoughts, behaviors, beliefs, and shape us into who we become as adults. While every person has their own unique journey, we also collectively share experiences as major global events impact the world around us. Generational differences can lend some insight into working with educators when leading or coaching across generations.
Episode 207 of the Restart Recharge Podcast, Coaching Across Generations, talks about the different generations in our workforce today. Ben Sondgeroth provides some excellent tips for coaches and leaders on approaching and empathizing with educators in different generations. It can’t be overstated that just because someone is a part of a particular generation means they will think and operate in one particular way. But, Ben’s insights provide some great things to think about and keep in the back of your mind when coaching across generations.
Ben’s insights really appealed to me as a leader of a team of people who span multiple generations and had me thinking about how this relates to retention of employees. I think this episode is a great listen for anyone who coaches, specifically anyone who helps teachers use technology, and for any leaders of teams.
